Paragon™ Gold is a “eutectic” gear oil, formulated for use in all gearboxes, particularly where there is excessive wear and short life, thus increasing operating costs.
Inadequately lubricated gears and bearings can scratch under high load. Scratching occurs when opposing rough edges momentarily weld together. The anti-wear additive system used in Paragon™ Gold prevents scratching by forming a protective chemical film on the contact area. The surfaces are still subject to high loads, however, instead of micro-welding, they are made smoother by pressure.
The eutectic smoothing effect of Paragon™ Gold also partially flattens pre-existing wear damage.
Pitting is also stopped by the use of Paragon™ Gold. Pitting is formed by metal fatigue and metal fatigue is minimized when the load is supported by a smoother surface. Some “initial pitting” may still occur when using Paragon™ Gold, especially when there is misalignment.
All Paragon™ Gold viscosity grades meet the requirements of DIN 51517-3.
